Tapio Dance Company (TDC)

  • Tiny Stars – This level of company attends class for 1.25 hours once a week, is chosen from our developmental recreation class program, and requires a nine months commitment to the dance company. Attending two conventions and competitions for the season, this level competes tap, lyrical/ballet, and jazz. They also perform in our annual dance recital and are included in all of our community performances during the year.
  • Twinkling Stars – This level of company attends class for 1.5 hours of class twice a week; chosen by evaluation and audition process separated by ability level and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Mandatory attendance at four competitions, two with conventions is required and will compete four dances at each competition, tap, lyrical, jazz, and production. These dancers will perform in our annual dance recital and are included in all of our community performances during the year.
  • Rising Stars – This level of company attends class 1.5 hours of class twice a week; chosen by evaluation and audition process separated by ability level and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Mandatory attendance at four competitions, two with conventions is required and will compete four dances at each competition, tap, lyrical, jazz, and production. These dancers will perform in our annual dance recital and are included in all of our community performances during the year.
  • Shining Stars – This level of company attends 2 hours of class three days a week; chosen by an evaluation and audition process by ability level and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Mandatory attendance at four competitions, three with conventions is required and will compete four dances at each competition with the option of competing in our mini hip-hop routine. These dancers perform in our annual dance recital and are included in all of our community performances during the year.
  • Elite Stars – This level of company attends 1 to 2 hours of class three days a week; chosen by an evaluation and audition process and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Attendance at four competitions with three conventions, this group will compete only 1 or 2 dances at each competition with the option of competing in our mini or junior hip hop routine depending on the age of the dancer. This dance group is perfect for the dancer who wishes to pursue other activities, such as cheer leading, band, chorus, soccer, etc. but still wants to continue competitive dance. It is also for the beginner competitive dancer. Dancers will be placed in level appropriate technique classes, but will participate only in production and one other dance with an option of competing in our junior or senior hip hop routine depending on age; their time in the studio will be significantly less. Some dancers will be placed here to gain more experience in competitive dance. Some may choose this company on the audition form due to the lower commitment level; however, everyone will be placed according to their individual technique level.
  • Shooting and Sparkling Stars – Dancing approximately 3 hours four days a week, this level of company is chosen by an evaluation and audition process and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Attending four competitions three with conventions, these dancers will compete four dances at each competition with an option of competing in the mini or junior hip-hop routines depending on age. These dancers perform in our annual dance recital as well as all of our community performances.
  • Super, Mega, and All Stars – Dancing approximately 4 hours four days a week, this level of company is chosen by an evaluation and audition process and requires a twelve month commitment to the dance company. Mandatory attendance to four competitions three with conventions, and options for an extra conventions; these dancers will compete five dances at each competition with an option to compete with the junior or senior hip hop routine depending on age. These dancers perform in our annual dance recital as well as our community performances.

All competitive students are chosen by an open assessment/evaluation and audition process in a classroom situation. All TDC members compete locally, regionally and nationally throughout the months of November through June with year round training and commitment.

Open auditions will be held in May of each year. Summer training and technique classes begin in June. For information and details, call the school at 843-884-9579.
